
Jakarta has been surrounded by massive floods Heavy rains had flooded the capital for three days since Thursday (1/2) up to Friday morning (2/2). This had caused massive floods than previous annual floods ever. The flood had also affected some areas which never had the disaster before. For example, several roads in Pondok Indah South Jakarta had experienced flood disaster for the first time. Some other areas like Cawang, Kalibata, and the height of water (flood) had reached 3 meters and almost all of one-floor houses were heavily flooded with water.
Besides flooding Jakarta, the flood had also affected some supporting regions, such as Bekasi, Tangerang and Bogor. In these regions, the water height reached 2.5 meters. In the resident’s area of Pondok Aren Bintaro Tangerang, the flood had reached for almost two meters, flooding several areas in the neighborhood unit. Thousands of residents had moved to other places, such as to the mosques, streets and other neighboring resident areas.
The great impacts of today’s floods had touched the heart the hearts of many parties to help ease the burdens of thousand flood victims.
As a new organization, IMSCB-Indonesia Maritime Security Coordinating Board (Bakorkamla) also took part in helping the flood victims by donating rubber boats. This donation was given to areas of Ciledug, Kelapa Gading, Cipinang, Sunter and Pesanggrahan. The IMSCB-Indonesia Maritime Security Coordinating Board (Bakorkamla) also distributed various main needs, such as rice, instant noodles, drinking water and blankets to the flood victims in those areas.
